USING COLORS

If your high-resolution display supports colors, you can change the colors used by spec's plotting with the function call:

plot_cntl("colors=bgnd:win:text:axis:symb")

The values for bgnd (the background color of the area outside the axis), win (the background color of the area inside the axis), text (the color of the text), axis (the color of the axis) and symb (the color of the plotting symbols) are integers. Values not given will not be changed.

The standard macros splot and rplot use the color values in the strings splot_col and rplot_col to set colors before plotting. Default values for VGA and EGA displays are:

splot_col="11:12:9:3:2"
rplot_col="12:11:9:3:2"

Defaults for X Windows and Sunview are:

splot_col="16:49:9:3:2"
rplot_col="49:16:9:3:2"

You can choose other color combinations by assigning new values to these strings. (The first two colors should be light and the last three should be dark to provide good contrast between the background and foreground.)

A call of

plot_cntl("-colors")

will turn use of colors off. A call of

plot_cntl("colors")

will turn use of colors on, if the device support colors.
